In one of the Facebook groups the other day I joined a discussion regarding MTB Tires and what to use.
Obviously that got out of hands a bit ….to say the least…
So to the never ending question of what Tires I should use for my Mountain bike.
Based on my experience in the area around Stockholm, Sweden and the Eastern parts of Finland I’ll share my thoughts.
I ride my bikes in shifting weather, single track, gravel roads, rock surface and sometimes when unavoidable tarmac.
So what do I use then?
On my full suspension bike a Scott Genius 720 the all-round set up used is:
Schwalbe Nobby Nic, Trail star in front and Pace Star back, both with snakeskin protection,
When the trails, rock and roots get very wet in the autumn and spring I prefer Continental Trail King Black chili .
Obviously when winter AND ice hit the trails i go for spikes and the Schwalbe ICE Spiker Pro.
So why a picture of Continental X-King Protection Black Chili here?
Just because I want to try whether they could be an alternative for
the summer period (Yes, I know summer in Sweden ….)
On my HardTail bike, a Scott Scale 35, I go for the same Continental Trail King for the same period as above but actually only go for one more set the rest of the time namely the Specialized Fast Track S-Works.
Why? you can ask … and the reason is that during ice and snow period I stick to my Genius and mainly go for dry-damp conditions and gravel with the HardTail.
So comment if you like, I don’t claim this to be right for you in any way, just that it works for me.
